On May 5, Snohomish STEM and Economic Alliance Snohomish County attended Everett Community College’s Local Leaders Lunch, a special update hosted on EvCC’s campus and led by President Dr. Chemene Crawford and the college’s Executive Leadership Team.
The event brought together local leaders for a firsthand look at EvCC’s current initiatives, strategic priorities, and long-term vision for serving students, supporting workforce development, and contributing to the economic and social vitality of Everett and Snohomish County.
A Look at EvCC’s Future Growth
One of the major updates shared during the event was the future of EvCC’s Baker Hall building. The new facility is planned for a future site along Broadway and is slated to open in January 2028. The building will include a new Black Box Theater, creating expanded space for arts, performance, and student learning.
EvCC also shared that its Cosmetology program will return to the main campus with a new home in the future Baker Hall building. This move will create stronger connections between the program, students, and the broader campus community.
Supporting Students and Workforce Pathways
College leaders also highlighted several initiatives focused on student success and workforce readiness. These included Academic Credit for Prior Learning (ACPL), which helps students receive credit for college-level learning gained through work, training, military service, or other life experiences.
EvCC also shared updates on new fast-track options for select in-demand career pathways, designed to help students move more quickly into high-demand fields. These efforts align closely with regional workforce needs and the importance of helping students access flexible, career-connected education opportunities.
“Everett Community College continues to be a critical education and workforce partner in Snohomish County,” said Alyssa Jackson, Director of the Snohomish STEM Network. “Their investments in student success, career-connected pathways, and future-facing facilities directly support our region’s talent pipeline and economic vitality. We are excited to see EvCC’s continued growth and look forward to ongoing partnership as we work together to connect students with the opportunities, skills, and industries shaping Snohomish County’s future.”
Expanding Industry-Aligned Training
Another important update included EvCC’s plans to expand AMTEC facilities. AMTEC plays a key role in preparing students for careers in advanced manufacturing, engineering technology, and other technical fields that are essential to our local economy.
For Snohomish STEM, these investments reflect the continued importance of strong education and industry partnerships that help students see, explore, and prepare for future careers right here in Snohomish County.
Strengthening Regional Partnerships
Snohomish STEM values opportunities to stay connected with education, workforce, and community partners across the region. Events like EvCC’s Local Leaders Lunch help local organizations better understand emerging needs, future opportunities, and the shared work ahead to support students and strengthen Snohomish County’s talent pipeline.
We are grateful to Everett Community College and the EvCC Foundation for bringing local leaders together and for their continued commitment to student success, workforce development, equity, and community engagement.
