Overview

Each year, more than 500 Snohomish County high school students participate in Everett Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Training & Education Center (AMTEC) Manufacturing Day Tour. The 2026 tour will be held on April 21–23, 2026, with schools attending one of the three days. This three-day event is the only countywide manufacturing career exploration program, introducing students to high-demand, high-wage local career pathways in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and related industries.

Partners in Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day is made possible through strong collaboration between local employers, education partners, and community organizations. Together, they bring the program to life — from showcasing real-world career pathways to providing resources and support that expand student access.

Recent participating partners include:

  • Employers: Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Airbus Robotics, Electroimpact, ATS (Applied Technical Services), Toolcraft, Nichols Brothers, Janicki, and more
  • Community Organizations: Impact Washington, Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance, Evergreen Goodwill Youth Aerospace Program, and more

Their involvement highlights the deep connection between education, industry, and community — ensuring students see clear, inspiring pathways into high-demand, high-wage careers.

Join these industry and community leaders in supporting Manufacturing Day — and help inspire the next generation of Snohomish County’s manufacturing workforce.

Students experience:

  • Interactive presentations from AMTEC departments: Welding, Precision Machining, Composites, Engineering Tech Design, and Mechatronics.
  • Hands-on demonstrations from local employers who hire directly from AMTEC programs.
  • The chance to assemble a take-home project (past examples include a tabletop clock or phone stand).
  • Exposure to career pathways that provide excellent pay, benefits, and little to no student debt.
  • Transportation and lunch, supported by sponsors.

What Students Are Saying:

Each year, students leave Manufacturing Day with new insights, inspiration, and a stronger sense of possibility for their futures. Here’s what they shared after the 2024 tour:

⚙️ “Learning about all the opportunities for jobs out there.”
🛤️ “Seeing all the different pathways to take.”
🎨 “The amount of creativity people use is amazing.”
💵 “The starting and yearly pay.”
💡 “I liked all the stations and just all the knowledge I didn’t know before.”

Since its start in 2015, Manufacturing Day has grown from 250 students to 500+, representing over 20 Snohomish County schools each year. Demand continues to grow, and Snohomish STEM is proud to partner with EvCC AMTEC to support this critical career-connected learning opportunity.

Why It Matters

Washington’s advanced manufacturing sector faces a growing skills gap as experienced workers retire. Programs like Manufacturing Day connect students directly with local employers and training programs, inspiring the next generation of makers and problem-solvers.

The EvCC AMTEC Manufacturing Day Tour is Snohomish County’s only countywide manufacturing career exploration program. Each April, more than 500 high school students from across the county experience hands-on career pathways in welding, machining, composites, engineering tech design, and mechatronics — directly connecting with local employers and building inspiration for high-demand, high-wage careers. Students tour AMTEC’s state-of-the-art labs, meet local employers, and complete a take-home project that reinforces advanced manufacturing pathways.

Sponsorships ensure the program remains free for schools and students while covering essential costs like transportation, lunches, and project supplies.
