About Explore I.T. Careers℠
Explore I.T. Careers℠ is a one-day, hands-on career exploration program that connects middle or high school students with professionals in Information Technology (I.T.) and Computer Science. Students rotate through interactive career stations hosted by local employers and higher education partners, gaining first-hand exposure to tech careers, skills, and pathways.
This program is presented in partnership by Everett Public Schools CTE, Everett Community College, and the Snohomish STEM Network, with support from local employers and community sponsors.

Why Technology Careers?
Technology is one of the fastest-growing industries in Snohomish County and across Washington State. Careers in software development, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and advanced computing are in high demand, offering family-wage jobs and strong career mobility. Yet many students — especially at the middle school level — have little exposure to these opportunities.
Explore I.T. helps address this gap by:
- Sparking early interest in technology careers.
- Connecting students to local employers and role models.
- Showing clear pathways from school to training to careers in Snohomish County.
History
Explore I.T. Careers was piloted in November 2024 with around 60 middle school students from Everett Public Schools.
The inaugural program featured:
- Career partners from local tech employers and Everett Community College.
- An in-kind facility partnership with EvCC, who hosted the event.
- A high-impact student experience that combined hands-on activities with real-world career stories.
Student outcomes from 2024 pilot:
- 85% increased their knowledge of IT careers and pathways.
- 62% reported increased desire to pursue a career in IT.
Encouraged by the success of the pilot, Everett Public Schools CTE, Everett Community College, and Snohomish STEM are partnering again to bring Explore I.T. Careers back in November 2025 with even stronger impact.
